Full music production, music coordination, contracting services and remote recording
Our company specializes in music coordination for film, television, Broadway, live performance venues, touring and private functions. We are committed to individualizing each project and not using a "one size fits all" approach. We also offer a full remote recording studio set up for sessions in any location with "in-house" equipment and the best technical engineering staff available.
With over thirty years experience in the music business as a performer himself, playing double bass with everyone from Rostropovich to Streisand to Peter Gabriel, Brian has hands on experience as music coordinator and orchestra contractor for live productions and recordings for film, television and audio projects: Amazon TV, Warner Brothers, Broadway, ABC, CBS, NBC, Warner/Electra and major national and international concert hall events including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, The Kravis Center for the Performing Arts and the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. Concerts and tours in the US, Europe, Asia and South America. Orchestras ranging in size from small chamber ensembles to 100 piece orchestras in Los Angeles or New York.
Contract negotiations and budgeting for all aspects of recording and performance projects including studio rentals, engineers, conductors, orchestrators, equipment rental, musicians, union negotiation and live location coordination. I also specialize in finding unique and wonderful acoustic recording venues outside the "normal" studio situation.
Every project is unique to it's own artistic stance and the personalities involved with it. That is one of the most important aspects of a project outside of artistic ability. Everyone must get along. If there is tension in the room, the music does not flow!
CMS can offer remote location recoding sessions with full "in -house" equipment. This includes board, microphones, stands, lights, cameras, monitors and technical / engineering staffs. We have the ability to record anywhere and have successfully done so in churches, warehouses and private homes. This link was done in a private living room!
Amazon TV
Two years of this series with some wonderful chamber orchestra performances. Strong tight chamber 13 piece string sections with a small wind contingency, percussion and piano.
MGM EPIX
What a pleasure to music coordinate and orchestra contract for this show. Composer Alex Wurman and one of the greatest casts I have ever had the pleasure to work with. We have put together an amazing score with a small 14 piece string section (sounds like 30 with no over dubs), the best chamber players in LA! Some other wonderful sounds with drums, percussion, guitar and winds. It goes to show that you can create wonderful music with live musicians within a given budget.
What can I say but the best jazz players in Los Angeles, an amazing chart made famous by Sinatra and we actually played the original Quincy Jones opening that was cut on the Sinatra version. Pretty cool!
I always enjoy working with new artists. Laure Z is a very talented young French jazz singer. Putting her together with Jonathan Hughes, one of the best orchestrators and music directors in Los Angeles was the perfect fit. All the best jazz players in town and a great string section.
The Grammy nominated Voices of Ascension chorus, orchestra and organ. One of the finest choirs in the world, based in NYC. The group can record in a NYC studio or the Church of Ascension. The church offers not only top rate acoustics but also a modern multi - million dollar French organ built by Pascal Quoirin. A broader repertoire is available on their website. All members are a regular roster of professional singers.
A nice commercial private event in NYC. Some fantastic Broadway singers and an orchestra I coordinated not only with players but finding some of the original charts!
Alana Davis, wonderful singer with strings and a rock / folk band.
Enya, such a wonder talent from all angles. We did all the major network morning and late night shows with producer Duffy Macri. Duffy is a first rate producer and A&R person that I enjoy working with in the rock and pop genres.
One of the greatest Broadway overtures ever recorded. An amazing original orchestration by Sid Raymin that I had the pleasure to not only play on the cast album but also was house contractor for the run of the show with Jujamcyn theaters on Broadway. Twenty seven regular musicians and over 150 subs! Working with Seymour "Red" Press as the original music coordinator was a thrill.
This is a top rate tour that was produced for symphony orchestras around the country for their pops series. I coordinated the "up front" rock band (and played on this one) to back singing and stage star Bob Stillman. We also maintained the touring library and logistics.
Sometimes you just have to be grateful for the amazing talent you work with in one's life. This was after the Broadway show Follies. John Miller was coordinator for this and was quite a wonderful production. I just wanted this out there for perpetuity. Quite becoming for Polly.
What can I say; Patti Lupone. The legend. This is one of the many TV shows I coordinated with her and this production. (Downloaded backwards though. She holds the mic in her left hand)!
A modern show that will stand the test of time as a classic. One of the few times a producer ever sat through the first rehearsal and was so impressed told us we need the orchestra to be bigger! We added more strings. That has never happened since! A close working relationship with two great music directors, Ted Sperling and Kimberly Grigsby. Composer Adam Guettel was always a present hands on person on the project. A true American composer.
This was a lot of fun putting together a 1970's style band. Some wonderful jazz / rock players and a variation of arrangers.
My first engagement of many with legendary rock producer and orchestrator Michael Kamen. What an honor to have worked with him over the years on so many projects.
Carnegie Hall 2010. We also had Shirley Bassey, Deborah Harry, Elton John and Bruce Springsteen on the stage this day!
Playing this show on Broadway with an all star cast. Antonio and I have the great connection of sailing!
One of my many projects overseas. Helen Schneider, a fantastic Norma in every way. Most Americans have never seen this.
